Camp Workday

Reminder

We are scheduling a camp workday for this Saturday, October 3, 2020 beginning at 8:30 AM. We would like to ask your help in getting Camp Parsons ready for the Troop 800 October court of honor and Webelos day that is scheduled for October 17, 2020.

The same scouts and leaders from troop 800 continue to provide a majority of all the construction at the camp, and we would like to encourage parents to help their scouts scouting adventure by helping with the projects at the camp on the 3rd of October.

Please remember that Troop 800 is anticipating using this camp for a majority of its campouts over the next 6 to 12 months, and all improvements are for the wellbeing of the campers.

Please note that this counts for volunteer hours for scouts looking for advancement.

Lunch will be provided, so please let us know if you can attend. Please email me at
georgewelch@gmail.com

Thank you for your support.

Cabin Updates

Merry Christmas All

Two cabins have four framed walls. Adam and Karen Wilson, Kevin Newman and I along with our scout support staff are planning on being at camp again tomorrow 8:30 AM. We are planning on finishing the roofing and walls tomorrow if at all possible.

If we have more help, we can get some more pads poured and prepped and we can continue the building process.

We have purchased 10 doors and were able to upgrade all of the windows to Pella double paned, all larger than theWe have purchased 10 doors and were able to upgrade all of the windows to Pella double paned, all larger than theoriginal $58.00 single pane shed windows we were looking at, and each brand new Pella window cost $54.00 each(we save $16.00 per cabin, but lumber cost are still taking care of neutralizing that savings). So on the good news, there will be a little more light and breeze in the cabins. All of these materials are at camp along with all the metal for the roofing.

We will order lumber for the cabins as we get pads ready for construction. In this way, we can take advantage if lumber costs go down as projected and we do not have expensive materials just laying around camp in the elements.

And remember, January camping is only a month away...

Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Admin/Health Lodge

November 16, 2020

The admin and health lodge at camp is 99% completed and almost ready for furnishings, supplies and decorating.

This is where we need some help, I know some of you work in the health care industries, and I hope that you may be able to help us out. We really need your input as to what we should have in the Health lodge. We have a back board and a set of bunk beds and that is about it.

In the Admin side we have a desk and that is about it. So if any of you have ideas or ideas you think may help, please let us know.
Both rooms are 13' x 14'.

BSA Troop 800 has decided to buy an AED device.  If anyone knows the best type to get or the best place to get it please let us know.

Thanks,

Rodney Parsons
